Summer of winter

August 25, 2010

Hey,

I figured it was about time I did an update. I've been slacking this summer, I know.

I went to Saas Fee, Switzerland to shoot the Burton adds for this season. They are looking good! I love that village, especially in summer. I met up with Spencer O'brien, Natazsa Zurek, Rana Okada, Yuki Furihata, Sina Candrian and out team manager Susie Floros in Geneva before we drove up to the mountains. We had a week of shooting, tanning, eating and just enjoying ourselves to the fullest. Thanks to Burton snowboards fro hooking us up bigtime!!! We also ran into Danny Kass, Dingo and the Grenade gloves crew up there. So random and awesome! Keep an eye out for those adds!

After my trip to the alps I headed home again. Finally the summer in Trondheim set in for real. I really enjoyed myself those two last weeks of home time before winter kicked back in.

August came around, and it was time to travel across the world. I went back to good ol' Wanaka, New Zealand and had my first days snowboarding with the Burton girls and my favorite Kiwi, Kendall Brown. My second day on snow was the contest day at The Burton New Zealand Open starting the TTR tour. I was rather rusty to put it that way, with zero days on a board since April 4th. I was about to drop in for my run when I figured I had to put down some tricks. Landed a run and was happy with a good day riding in the sun with great friends. Ended up in 7th place, which was better than I was expecting.

After the Open the Burton photographers flew in. We did a photoshoot for the 2012 Burton catalogue. Yes, we are way ahead of time. I'll tell you, the 2012 collection is looking sharp! We did three sunrise sessions up in the Cardrona pipe. I'm not a fan of 5 am wake up calls, but we got stuff done and that's what matters. We had one day at Remarkables shooting backcountry and ended it all with a studio shoot. I am still in Wanaka with some of the Burton riders. I'll stay here until Monday the 30th before I head back home for a little while.

June 27, 2010

Hi!

I left the states in April, and went to Paris to visit my sister who lives there. Had a good week enjoying the French cuisine and shopping. After that I headed home. I've been working out, getting healthy and hanging out with everyone at home. It has been fabulous!

I went to Long Beach, NY for 5 days to do round tables with Burton. I can't tell you much about the 2012 line, but I'll tell you this: It will blow your mind cause it's so great!! It's weird how you're used to hanging out with a crew for 9 months and then all of a sudden have 3 months completely away from them. It was good fun seeing the Burton riders and everyone who works for Burton again! Got some much needed beach time in as well!

I went home again, thinking I was staying at home for a good month, but then I got tired of being home and went to Greece for a week! It was unbelievable.. The food, the people, the scenery, everything. Definitely going back next summer. It should be a tradition. Had a few days in Santorini and then a few at Ios. Both amazing islands!

I just got home today, looking forward to keep working out and planning the start of the next season. For now I'm staying at home until July 15th. I'm going to shoot some adds with Burton in Switzerland for a week. It will be good, I'm sure!

I am updating my twitter almost daily at www.twitter.com Check it out!

Season wrap up!

April 08, 2010

Hello!

As you know I did the Chicken Jam in Mammoth. It was SO fun. I made it thru to finals, which was great after a rather rough season. I landed a brand new trick in finals, which made me even more stoked. I am really happy with my own riding and I feel like I have the new trick on lock already.

I had such a great time in Mammoth hanging out in the sun and warmth with the ladies. While I was up there I figured I needed a beach, so I went down to Huntington Beach on the first flight after the contest. I had a good three days there with wonderful friends, laying on the beach, getting a tan, eating good food and I also, believe it or not, got in the water. It was... Refreshing! Haha

After my much needed spring break, I drove to Salt Lake City and pretty much unpacked and packed. I had two nights there before I got on a plane to Denver to meet Ellery and Ursina, and drove to Aspen and Gretchen Bleiler's event Snow Angels.

However, when I landed Ellery called and told me the Vail pass was closed, so we couldnt drive that way to Aspen. I picked up Ursina and the three of us had sushi and decided to drive an alternate route. It was by far the worst drive of my life. A straight up blizzard made a 30 minute drive last two hours. We got over that pass and to Leadville safely. We were soon to learn that the road from Leadville to Vail closed 10 minutes before we got there.. After a good three hours waiting for the road to open, we got the news. The police officer told us that it would be at least four hours until they open the road again. It was now 11pm and the Vail pass had opened again.

We decided to drive back to Copper and drive the way we originally were going to take. We made it. It was 230am by the time we got to Aspen, but it was so nice to get there. We were met by very friendly people at the hotel, Viceroy. We got our rooms and I'll tell you, it was luxury.

We had five days in Aspen riding pow, cruising the pipe and getting spa treatments. This was another all girls event, and you couldn't do anything but love it. The last day we went skiing, which was interesting.. We also had a great last night 80's party! Thank you Gretchen for Making this the perfect last event of the season. I know all the girls needed this.

It has been the longest season by far, and I'm happy to say it's a wrap. I have had so many great experiences throughout the season with a lot of contests and great friends. Thanks to everyone who has been backing me and my riding all year!!!

I am back in Salt Lake City now, to chill for a bit before I finally get to go home April 14th. I will be doing a Burton Team shoot in Austria late April and then I get some time off to recharge my batteries.

Euro X-Games and US Open

March 25, 2010

Hi!

I had the greatest week in Tignes, France at the first ever European X-Games. It was a bit challenging to get thru security at the event, since French people seem to hate everyone who's not French. Hah. Anyway, I loved the mountain. It was so big and it was connected to two other resorts which was epic. I put down a sketchy run in eliminations and was close to making finals. However I wasn't too bummed, because all I wanted to do was to land.

I hung out with my closest friends in the snowboarding industry and we had great weather all week. March 13th I went back to the states and Salt Lake City for a few days. It was great to be back. I really feel like I'm home there.

After charging my batteries in SLC, I went to Stratton, VT for the US Open. We had sun and warm weather every day. It was pretty awesome to shred in a sweatshirt in VT. I never thought I would. I was really happy with my qualification run and got thru in 2nd place. Semifinals were tough. Everyone threw down and it was so fun riding. I was happy with my own riding, but ended up being 0.6 point behind finals.. Not that cool. And of course everyone was riding for Kev.

And everyone's doing it for Kev on Twitpic

All in all I had a lot of fun at the Open. I'm stoked to see that I still know how to snowboard and that I'm able to put down runs in contests again.

After the Open the Burton Team went to Stowe, VT and stayed at Jake and Donna's for a couple days for a development camp. We tested the 2012 gear and I'll tell you it's radical. They have made many changes on their products, and it's way sicker than it's ever been.

I flew out of VT two days ago and had a shopping day in LA with Spencer Obrien, Susie Floros and Natasza Zurek. Now I'm in Mammoth, CA for the Chicken Jam, which is an all girls contest. It is warm and sunny here, and that suites me perfectly right now.

Load down!

March 09, 2010

Hey!

The Olympics are over and I have to say I am relived. It has been a long journey, and I'm ready to be on my own program now. For the last two seasons I feel like it has been way too much focus on that one contest. I am gonna snowboard a lot the next month in the states, and start doing exactly what I want to do. Travel with friends, ride the best parks and pipes and enjoy life.

Welcome ceremony for Norway! on Twitpic

As you probably know the Olympics didn't go my way. I can easily say that I have never been that nervous before a contest. My legs were literally shaking before I dropped in, and I knew I wouldn't be able to ride to my fullest. I fell in both runs in qualifiers, and felt like I had let myself and everyone else down. However, I figured that it wasn't the end of the world, and that I have so much stuff going on and look forward to. Thanks to everyone who supported me before and after it was all done. I promise I will be back stronger than ever.

All in all, it was a great experience, and I am happy so say I am an Olympian. The Opening ceremonies were wonderful. It was such an amazing feeling to walk into the stadium representing my country in front of 60 000 people. I also felt really proud to wear the Norwegian flag on all my clothes during the games.

After the Games I went home for a week, which was awesome. I really needed to get away from it all and hang out with my family and friends. March 1st I went to Big Bear in CA with the Wms Burton Team. We had an epic week shooting up there. We had sun and a great park and it really made me realize what snowboarding is all about, just having fun. Big ups to the park crew at Big bear for making it a great week!!

March 6th, which was my 20th birthday, I went to Tignes, France with a good crew for the European X-Games. I am still here, and we had one day of practice yesterday. Today we have eliminations, and I'm hopefully gonna put down a run. The resort is huge, and it has been sunny and nice here, but it is waaaay colder than CA, duh!

I will be heading back to the states on Sunday, and have a couple days in Salt Lake City, before the US Open in VT. I will keep you posted.
